Landforms and Maps

Course

Students make and read many kinds of maps, model landforms, and hone their map reading skills. They practice recognizing solid and liquid water and explore how the shape of the land influences whether water gathers in oceans, lakes, rivers, or ponds.

Course

Students identify observable properties and use them to classify objects. They then think like engineers to use observable properties to solve problems at a zoo. Students also test materials to determine which ones work best in different situations.

Course

Students discover that larger items can be broken down into smaller pieces. Then, they investigate phenomena such as heating and cooling to develop explanations and models for reversible and irreversible changes.

Course

Students explore how forces affect the motion of an object and experiment with the effects of friction on sliding objects. They also look at the changes in temperature associated with frictional forces.

Students record weather data graphically and use it to make predictions. They will also explore patterns of temperature and precipitation around the world to better understand the climate in different regions.
