Landforms and Maps

Students make and read many kinds of maps, model landforms, and hone their map reading skills. They practice recognizing solid and liquid water and explore how the shape of the land influences whether water gathers in oceans, lakes, rivers, or ponds.

Course

Students will explore how wind and water can change the shape of the land. Thinking like engineers, they will identify problems caused by erosion and develop solutions to address them.

Which is Best

Course

Students identify observable properties and use them to classify objects. They then think like engineers to use observable properties to solve problems at a zoo. Students also test materials to determine which ones work best in different situations.

Students learn about the engineering design process and use the steps to design solutions to build a shelter to protect a bunny from different kinds of weather analyze their designs to identify strengths and weaknesses.

Students learn how to design an experiment to determine what plants need to survive and grow, conduct the experiment, and analyze their results.

Bee a Pollinator

Course

Students explore how seeds and pollen move from place to place. By building models, playing games, and observing nature, students learn about the structure of pollen and seeds and the role of unique plant and animal structures in plant reproduction.

Who Lives in this Habitat

Course

Students study the diversity of organisms in different habitats. They compare plants and animals that can be found in different habitats and consider organisms that can live in many habitats and ones that only live in specific habitats.
